Accomplishments of 2008:

Completed construction of Three Mile Look landscaped walkway from corner of Everett and Perry Avenues to the site of the old Cape Cod Canal Draw Bridge. This was the flagship project called for in our Green Belt Project plan.

Began work on a mini park on the corner of St Catherine and Cohasset Avenues., also part of our Green Belt Pathway project.

Finalized master plan to convert the town park to an intergenerational facility to be called Bridge Park, for all ages, as an attraction to visit Main Street and patronize local shops.

Completed a study of the transportation needs to improve traffic flow in and out of Main Street.

Worked with representatives of other Cape towns to access state funds to construct a hi-speed wi-fi cell phone access system across the entire Cape.

Worked with the Bourne Historical Commission to bring about demolition of the old bicycle shop at the west end of Main Street for new construction set for the Spring of 2009.

Worked with community groups to bring back a Farmer’s Market to Main Street that reflected a 30 plus percent boost  in sales and is looking to comeback next year.  We underwrote promotion banner and signs and kept the media and the community advised throughout the Summer.

Joined with the Cape Cod Canal Region Chamber of Commerce and the Bourne Financial Development Corporation is submitting a letter to the Cape Cod Commission articulating Bourne specific needs in putting an economic and job development mechanism in place at town hall. This was a three party submission as part of the Draft Regional Policy Plan now under review for final approval.

Worked with the same two groups and the Bourne Board of Selectmen and the Bourne Planning Board in gaining Town Meeting approval of much needed zoning changes to make Main Street attractive to potential investors.  In addition, was involved in efforts to resolve the sewer issue along the street and the implications for investment on a flood control district..
